Most Asked Hilton Interview Questions And Answers

Now, for what you’ve all been waiting for. Here is a comprehensive list of sample Hilton interview questions. All of these Hilton interview questions have been taken from current or former interviewees who have gone through the interview process at Hilton.

We will also provide you with some tips on how to best answer these questions to increase your chance of landing the job.

How would you approach an upset guest, and what would you do to make it right?

For those of you who have years of experience in the hotel industry, or even in the retail sector, you’ll be able to answer this question easily. If you have no experience working with customers, it may be a bit tougher to figure out an answer, especially one you think the interviewer is looking for.

It’s crucial to think about how you handle any conflict, whether with guests, your family, friends, or a stranger on the street. Do you stay calm and collected? Or do you panic and start yelling?

Whatever the case may be, you should be honest with the interviewer. If you’re someone who gets anxious very easily and does not like dealing with conflict, then they need to know that. It doesn’t necessarily mean that you won’t get a job with Hilton, but they may be able to find a different position that suits your personality better.

How do you handle conflict with co-workers?

Our tips for answering this are similar to the question about dealing with an upset guest. If you’ve been working for a long time, then you know how to answer this question.

However, if this would be your first job, think about times when you’ve worked in a group setting. This could be at school, volunteering, or on a sports team. Everyone has dealt with conflict at some point in their lives.

Again, you need to be honest with the interviewer here. If you don’t typically get along with co-workers, then tell them that. They may be able to find you a position where you would mostly be working independently.

Do you work well in a fast-paced environment?

This most likely isn’t going to be a question that will deter you from getting the job. If you tend to work better at a slower pace, that may be perfectly fine. You could gain more experience and learn how to work well in a fast-paced environment.

Or, they may be able to pair you with a job that isn’t as fast-paced, such as one that doesn’t deal with hotel guests or restaurants.

Can you work weekends and holidays?

Unfortunately, this may be a question that will make or break the interview. Certain positions and locations need employees that will be available for weekends and holidays.

Knowing this, you still need to be honest. If you lie and say that you’ll be available and then say the opposite once they give you the job, then they may fire you or give you little to no hours. Don’t tell them what they want to hear. Tell them the truth.

You never know. They may be able to find a position for you that doesn’t require weekends and holidays!

What qualities do you look for in a supervisor?

This answer is entirely opinion-based. There’s not necessarily a right or wrong answer. However, the supervisor may be trying to see if they are the type of supervisor that you’re looking for, to see if you would work well together.

As with every other question, just be honest. Some sample answers could be:

  • Empathetic
  • Supportive
  • Ability to delegate
  • Flexible
  • Positive attitude
  • An open book
  • Passionate

The answers are pretty much endless for this question!

Why Do You Want To Work For Hilton?

Finally, this is probably one of the most important Hilton interview questions that you’ll be asked. They will want to know why you chose to apply for a career with Hilton specifically.

For the last time (say it with me), be honest! If you don’t have a specific reason that you applied to Hilton, and you’re just looking for any hotel career to get your foot in the door, then you can say that.

However, it’s an excellent idea to show your passion for Hilton. For instance, say Candidate A and Candidate B are interviewing for a position with Hilton hotels. Both candidates have similar job experiences and personalities, but, Candidate A is genuinely passionate about Hilton’s values and how they give back to employees, while Candidate B doesn’t care what hotel they work at. Hilton will most likely choose Candidate A in that scenario.

Hilton Hotel Interview Tips

Now that you have some background on potential Hilton interview questions, you may be nervous about the rest of the interview. Our most important tip is to be yourself! If you are the right fit for Hilton, they will be able to see it in your personality at the interview.

Generally, interviewees have reported that the dress code for a Hilton interview was business casual. This means a nice pair of dress slacks for both men and women or a professional dress for women.

Some of the biggest tips from those who have interviewed with Hilton are to be positive and motivated to work. They also say to remember to smile and make eye contact with the interviewer throughout the process.

Hilton Interview Process

The Hilton Interview Process is a rigorous and comprehensive process that the company has implemented to ensure that the candidates are ready for the job. It is a three-step process that includes:

Qualifying – This step involves a phone interview which is used to determine whether the candidate meets the minimum qualifications for the role. If they do not, they will not be invited to proceed to step two.

Screening – The screening step involves an in-person interview with a recruiter who will assess their skills and experience against what is needed for this specific position.

Hiring – The hiring phase begins after both of these steps have been successfully completed. This final phase includes conducting reference checks and background checks and offering a job on behalf of Hilton in the United States.
